ONE hundred Universiti Brunei Darussalam Freshers were reminded to follow the sunnah of Prophet Muhammad SAW yesterday.

“Most of us know the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) but we don’t really know him deeply. The problem is that we are not aware of his sunnah,” said Ustaz Isyam Ismail, an officer from the Islamic Da’wah Centre.

Delivering a talk titled “Apa ada pada cinta Nabi Muhammad SAW” (For the love of Nabi Muhammad SAW) at the university’s mosque yesterday, he observed that not a lot of people want to follow the sunnah.

“This may be due to a lot of different reasons such as thinking the teachings only applied during Prophet Muhammad’s (SAW) era. However, these teachings remain relevant for all times,” he told The Brunei Times.

“Another important message I wanted to impart to the students was that we shouldn’t forget to follow the footsteps of Prophet Muhammad SAW while conducting our worldly duties.”

He said that the sunnah include performing mass prayers and reading Al-Quran. The religious talk was an activity at UBD’s Freshers’ Week.
