RBPF holds annual cross-country, tug-of-war final

MORE than 400 personnel from the Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) took part in its annual cross-country championship yesterday.

It was held at the Stadium Hassanal Bolkiah Gadong at the RBPF’s Headquarters in Gadong.

The run, divided into 10 categories, were competed over three distances: 3.5km, 6km and 10km.

RBPF Police Commissioner Dato Paduka Seri Pahlawan Bahrin Mohd Noor flagged off the first race, the 10km open category, at 7am.

Dato Paduka Bahrin then proceeded to take part in the 3.5km run for senior officers, where he finished fifth overall.

Esteemed local runner, Sefli Ahar, emerged victorious again finishing first in the 10km open category.

After the run ended, the final round of the tug-of-war contest was carried out at the stadium.

In the male category, the final round was competed between the ‘B’ and ‘E’ branches, whereas the ‘A’ branch and ‘B’ branch competed in the female category.

’B’ branch emerged as the male winners, the ‘A’ branch came out victorious for the female.

Coming out as overall winner for the cross-country was the ‘A’ branch.

The Police Commissioner handed over the medals and trophies to the winners as well as the top five finishers in each category.

Also presenting medals to the winners yesterday was Deputy Commissioner of Police Hj Mohammad Jammy Hj Mohammad Shah Al-Islam.

The RBPF in a statement issued yesterday said the championship is a way to encourage all RBPF personnel from various ranks to interact with each other. It is also a way to identify and unearth new talents for future competitions, it added.
