SOME 1, 300 existing .bn domain names have been successfully migrated to the National .bn Registry operated by Brunei Darussalam Network Information Centre Sdn Bhd (BNNIC), AITI announced yesterday in a press statement.
As of press time, there have been no reported disruptions to the existing customer domains, following a joint technical migration conducted by BNNIC and Telekom Brunei Berhad (TelBru) in preparation of the change for the administration of .bn domain names.
The Authority for Info-Communications Technology Industry of Brunei Darussalam (AITI) said all consumer requests for new registrations, renewals and modifications were now open for day-to-day processing, including requests pertaining to _.gov.bn, .com.bn, .org.bn, .edu.bn and .net.bn._
All other user requests related to .gov.bn shall be exclusively managed by the Prime Minister’s Office, the statement added. The introduction of the national registry for .bn domains are meant to give customers the freedom to choose from BNNIC accredited registrars.
“TelBru shall take care of all consumer specific requests until formal accreditation is awarded in the coming weeks,” the statement said. Existing customers should note that certain information such as business names, expiry dates and contact details will be published on BNNIC’s website at www.bnnic.bn .
