MoHA, MIPR hold Dikir ceremonies

THE Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA) held a Dikir Syarafil Anam ceremony Wednesday at Balai Ibadat Mukim Sukang.

It was among the many nightly dikir and prayer events being held in the Sultanate ahead of the commemoration of the birth of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), which will be celebrated on January 3.

The event started with _Maghrib _prayer followed by dikir, which was led by the dikir group of the Fire and Rescue Department’s Belait branch before Isya' prayer.

The ministry will also hold such events every night at selected mosques.

The event was attended by Minister of Home Affairs Yang Berhormat Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Hj Awg Badaruddin Pengarah Dato Paduka Hj Awg Othman along with officers from departments under the ministry.

Also attending were Yang Berhormat Hj Mohd Shafiee Ahmad, who is a representative of the Legislative Council and village head of Kg Lumut 1, the deputy permanent secretary of MoHA, the Belait district officer and penghulu and other village heads as well as members of the Mukim Sukang Representative Council.

Meanwhile, in the Brunei-Muara District, the Ministry of Industry and Primary Resources (MIPR) also continued their commemoration of the birth of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) by holding a dikir event at Kg Lambak Mosque.

During the event, Minister of Industry and Primary Resources Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Utama Dato Seri Setia Hj Yahya Begawan Mudim Dato Paduka Hj Abu Bakar attended as the guest of honour.

A total of 100 officers and staff from the ministry were invited to attend the event.

The event began with a mass Maghrib prayer followed by the recital of the dikir Khairuman, Alhamdulilah, Bisharin and Badat led by the MIPR dikir team before concluding with the Isya’ prayer.

The ministry is scheduled to attend another dikir recital at the Mohamed Bolkiah Mosque in Serusop on December 27 which will culminate with the closing of the Dikir Maulud on January 2 at the Sultan Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Mosque in the capital.

The ministry attended a similar event at the Jame’ ‘Asr Hassanil Bolkiah Mosque during the opening of the Dikir Syarafil Anam which was held on December 23.
