Family of eight gets new house

A FAMILY of eight received a bungalow from Majlis Ugama Islam Brunei (MUIB) and the Brunei-Muara District office yesterday.
The new house, with an estimated value of $53,380, is located at Kampung Orang Kaya Besar Imas, Mukim Berakas ‘A’ and was given to Bakir Hj Lingas and wife Norlailawati Mohammed.
Present as the guest of honour was the Acting Minister of Religious Affairs, Pengiran Dato Paduka Hj Bahrom Pengiran Hj Bahar, who presented the house keys and certificate to the recipients.
The new house is financed through zakat funds while the management of the construction was handled by the Brunei-Muara District Office.
Norlailawati who is a housewife, mother of six and the wife to Bakir Hj Lingas, a fisherman, expressed her gratitude to the government of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, MUIB and the Brunei-Muara district office.
“I am so happy we received this house after waiting for such a long time. We applied in 2001 and received an answer in 2012,” she said. “This house will help our whole family to live comfortably.”
Norlailawati and family previously lived in a rental house at Jalan Orang Kaya Besar Imas provided by Baitul Mal.
Also present at the ceremony was the Acting Brunei-Muara District Officer, Misle Hj Abdul Karim, the Acting Secretary of MUIB Hj Abdul Wahab Hj Sapar, Legislative Council member and Penghulu of Mukim Berakas ‘A’ Hj A. Ahmad Husain, Village heads of Mukim Berakas ‘A’ and officers of MUIB and the Brunei-Muara District office.
