THE public will benefit from the new e-Syariah Court Management System with a wide range of judicial services, said the Acting Chief Registrar at the Syariah Appeal Court.

In response to confusion over the introduction of marriage cards as part of the $1.75 million system, Hj Hassan Hj Metali reassured the public that the e-Syariah Court Management System will provide more efficient and effective judicial services.

He reiterated that marriage cards represent only a portion of the many judicial services offered under the new system, which is scheduled to be fully implemented by the end of 2016.

“Apart from the marriage cards, the public can also benefit from judicial services such as the provision of an online faraid (inheritance) calculator, whereby people can make inheritance calculations not only for one but several generation of heirs,” he said.

The e-Syariah Court Management System will also enable the public to apply online for marriage and case filing among others.

Hj Hassan added that people can apply for copies of or register their marriage, divorce or reconciliation online. With the new system, he said the process will be quicker for applicants compared to the current manual process.

They will also be able to check on the status of cases, the date and time of hearings and trials, as well as receive automated notifications via kiosk machines and reminders via emails.

“I’m confident, Insya’Allah once the system is fully implemented, it will be truly beneficial to the public as well as the authorities. I urge everyone to give their support to the Syariah Court in providing better services for the public,” said Hj Hassan.

Last Thursday, the Brunei Government and local IT firm ZimacSilicon Technologies Sdn Bhd inked a six-year contract for the implementation and maintenance of the e-Syariah Court Management System.
