35-strong Malaysian firefighters team on Brunei visit

A TOTAL of 35 personnel from the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department, Johor (PERISMA) visited an all-female firefighter group from Brunei’s Fire and Rescue Department on Sunday.
The PERISMA delegation, which was made up of nine males and 26 females, were greeted by the Assistant Director of Planning, Training and Recruitment and other senior officers on their arrival.
Datin Jalilah Mohamed led the PERISMA delegation during their visit to the Women Operations Unit Fire Station, where they witnessed several displays and demonstration of ability by the female firefighters in carrying out their duties.
Commanding Officer of Operation Branch C, Superintendent Othman Jailani Hj Ismail welcomed the visitors and they were taken to watch a display while Station Commander of the Women Operations Unit, Maimunah Hj Puasa, gave a commentary on the display. The Fire and Rescue Department said in a statement that Maimunah, gave the visitors more insight on the establishment of the station and the Women Operations Unit as well as on the uniforms worn by the firefighters. She then took the visitor on a tour of the station before the signing of the guestbook.
The delegation also watched the female firefighters display their abilities in a rescue operation as well as in controlling a fire in a building. The PERISMA team were also taken to visit the Royal Regalia Building in the capital.
