THE recent heavy downpour put a damper on nationwide traffic operations last week on Saturday evening as lead officers showed concern for the safety of police personnel manning the roadblocks that night.

Despite calling off the roadblocks mid-operations, the Traffic Control and Investigation Department (JSKLL) still managed to roundup a few errant motorists that night.

Acting Head of Operations and Enforcement ASP Mohd Fathdillah Hj Abd Hamid said despite the heavy rain, the teams of officers and police personnel maintained their objective which was to strengthen police presence and to ensure the safety of road users.

A total of 65 traffic offences were recorded at 10 points across the Sultanate during the operations which were coordinated by respective District Traffic Officers.

The operations in Brunei-Muara coordinated by District Traffic Officer of Brunei-Muara DSP Abd Aji Hj Apong saw 54 traffic violations recorded at Jalan Kebangsaan, Jalan Penghubung Tanah Jambu, Mentiri Highway and Kg Ayer area.

However, no violations were recorded at Bandar Seri Begawan Police station while Limau Manis Police Station had to cancel due to the weather.

For the Tutong district, traffic operations recorded six violations while in the Belait district, operations logged in four violations at Sg Liang Police Station and none at Labi Police Station.
