RTB ‘Bintang Radio’ winners crowned

WINNERS of this year’s edition of Radio Televisyen Brunei’s (RTB) “Bintang Radio” competition were crowned yesterday, following the competition’s exciting final round at RTB’s Raya Hall.
Muhammad Hanif Hj Asli and Siti Noriana Hj Munap took home the first prize in the Male Solo and Female Solo categories (18-30 years old), respectively.
Meanwhile, Hj Md Suhaillyzan Hj Sulaiman and Hjh Maskiah Hj Omar were crowned the champions for the Duet category (31-55 years old).
Coming in second place in their categories were Mohammad Noorfaizal Hj Md Osmena (Male Solo), Ampuan Nurhafizah Hanun Ampuan Hj Yaakub (Female Solo), and Abdul Rahman Awg Nawi and Noor Fauzillahwati Jarudin (Duet).
Meanwhile, taking home the third place prizes were Abdul Aziz Johari (Male Solo), Nurulhuda Fadillah Hj Md Junaidi (Female Solo), Hj Zul Azmi Hj Mohin and Hasdiana Hj Asli (Duet).
All winners received cash prizes, LED television sets, meal vouchers and certificates.
Present to hand out the prizes was Permanent Secretary of Media and Cabinet at the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) Hj Md Rozan Dato Paduka Hj Md Yunos.
Also in attendance were Deputy Permanent Secretary at the PMO Hj Idris Hj Mohd Ali, Director of RTB Hj Muhamad Suffian Hj Bungsu, and senior officers of RTB.
Apart from performances by the contestants, the evening also saw local well-known artistes Haslinda Taib and Affendy Agus delivering numbers at the show.
The “Bintang Radio” competition was first introduced in 1960, running annually until a hiatus in 1974. It successfully re-emerged in 2002 and has been running consecutively every year since.
The Brunei Times
