HM receives warm welcome in Busan

BUSAN, SOUTH KOREA

HIS Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzadin Waddaulah, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, arrived in Busan, Korea to attend the ASEAN-Republic of Korea Commemorative Summit.

The ASEAN-ROK Commemorative Summit celebrates the 25th anniversary of ASEAN-Korean relations.

His Majesty was greeted on arrival at the Gimhae Air Base, Busan, by the Mayor of Busan, Suh Byung Soo. Also present were Ahn Chong-ghee, Deputy Minister for Economic Affars of Korea’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Yi Won-woo Vice Secretary- General of the Preparatory Office for the ASEAN-Republic of Korea Commemorative Summit 2014 as well as Cho Won-myung, the Korean Ambassador to Brunei and other senior officers of the Korean government.

From the Brunei government side, present to greet His Majesty upon his arrival were YB Pehin Orang Kaya Pekerma Dewa Dato Seri Setia Lim Jock Seng, Second Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Minister of Energy at the Prime MInister’s Office, YB Pehin Datu Singamanteri Colonel (Rtd) Dato Seri Setia (Dr) Hj Mohd Yasmin Hj Umar and Brunei’s Ambassador to Korea, Dato Paduka Hj Harun Hj Ismail.

HIs Majesty received a flower bouquet and walked past a Static Guard of Honour mounted by 20 personnel from the Korean Air Force before boarding a motorcade for the Park Hyatt Busan Hotel where His Majesty will stay during the ASEAN-ROK Commemorative Summit.

The hotel’s Manager, Ross Cooper, welcomed the monarch upon his arrival at the hotel.

A press statement from the Prime Minister’s Office said that the summit is the best platform for both ASEAN and Korea to explore in-depth the various spectrum of fields.

His Majesty also attended a welcome dinner alongside the other ASEAN leaders at the Convention Hall of the BEXCO Centre.

Accompanying His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam to Korea is the Second Minister of Finance at the Prime Minister’s Office, YB Pehin Orang Kaya Laila Setia Dato Seri Setia Hj Abd Rahman Hj Ibrahim.
