Family feud spills to Jalan Jerudong
BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN
TWO men were beaten up close to Jerudong mosque on Sunday following a family dispute, the Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) said in a statement yesterday.
A call from a member of the public notifying the police of a fight around KTM restaurant area close to the Jerudong mosque was received at 9.44am.
The RBPF released the statement following The Brunei Times’ enquiry on an image showing four men involved in a scuffle in the middle of Jalan Jerudong which went viral yesterday. One man was holding a rod. Another rod was seen on the ground.
The victims, two local Malay men aged 32 and 36, were brought to the hospital after the fight. They were discharged without any severe injuries.
The police apprehended the alleged assaulter, a 38-year-old Malay man, and said that the investigation is still on-going.
If found guilty, the accused could be charged under Section 324 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt with a dangerous weapon which carries a maximum penalty of seven years in jail and caning. He could also be charged under Section 427 for damaging property.
The fourth man was not mentioned in the statement from RBPF yesterday.
