HM arrives in Seoul for state visit

HIS Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, safely arrived in Seoul, Republic of Korea yesterday for a three-day state visit.
The First Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea, Cho Tae-yong; Chief of Protocol of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Korea, Yoon Yeo-cheol; Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Korea to Brunei Darussalam, Cho Won-myung and Chief of Air Base of the Republic of Korea, Lieutenant General Sung Hwan-ro as well as senior officers of the Government of the Republic of Korea greeted His Majesty upon his arrival.
Also present to greet His Majesty upon arrival were Second Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Pekerma Dewa Dato Seri Setia Lim Jock Seng, Minister of Energy at the Prime Minister’s Office Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Singamanteri Colonel (Rtd) Dato Seri Setia (Dr) Hj Mohammad Yasmin Hj Umar and the Ambassador of Brunei Darussalam to the Republic of Korea, Dato Paduka Awang Hj Harun Hj Ismail.
His Majesty then consented to walk past a Static Guard mounted by 20 personnel from the Republic of Korea Air Force followed by a 21-Gun Salute before boarding a motorcade to the Grand Hyatt Seoul Hotel, where His Majesty is staying throughout the three-day state visit.
Upon arrival, His Majesty was greeted by the Hotel’s General Manager, David Pacey. Also present to greet His Majesty at the Hotel were 80 students and citizens of Brunei Darussalam who are in the Republic of Korea.
Accompanying His Majesty to the Republic of Korea is the Second Minister of Finance at the Prime Minister’s Office, Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Laila Setia Dato Seri Setia Hj Abd Rahman Hj Ibrahim.
Before departing from Istana Nurul Iman for his flight to the Republic of Korea, a Doa Selamat was read by the State Mufti Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia (Dr) Ustaz Hj Awang Abdul Aziz Juned.
Present at His Majesty the Sultan’s Flight Hangar to bid farewell were the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office His Royal Highness Prince Hj Al-Muhtadee Billah, His Royal Highness Prince Mohamed Bolkiah the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, His Royal Highness Prince Hj Jefri Bolkiah, His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Malik, His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Wakeel and Her Royal Highness Princess Ameerah Wardatul Bolkiah as well as other members of the Royal Family.
Also in attendance at the Sultan’s Flight Hangar were YAM Pengiran Cheterias, the Speaker of the Legislative Council, Cabinet Ministers, Members of the Privy Councils, Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) and Commissioner of Police.
