ACB holds prayers to mark anti-corruption day

THE Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) observed World Anti-Corruption Day by holding the tahlil and Surah Yassin recitation yesterday at the Royal Mausoleum in Jalan Tutong.

The recitation was also to pay respects to the late parents of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien and Al-Marhumah Duli Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Damit ibni Al-Marhum Pg Bendahara Pg Anak Abdul Rahman.

Present at the event was Dato Paduka Hj Md Juanda Hj Abd Rashid, Permanent Secretary (Law and Welfare) at the Prime Minister’s Office and Director of ACB and the officials.

Leading the recitation of the Yassin and tahlil was Imam Kg Sungai Hanching Mosque Hj Amron Hj Awang.

The ACB in a press statement stated that International Anti-Corruption Day has been observed annually on December 9 since the implementation of the United Nations Convention Against Corruption.

It added that the Sultanate is among the 173 nations that signed and ratified the convention.

The celebration is aimed to promote public awareness of the risk of corruption and the need to combat against corruption.
