81 cases recorded in nationwide traffic sweep

A NATIONWIDE operation coordinated by the Traffic Control and Investigation Department (JSKLL) during the late hours of December 6 resulted in the recording 81 cases of traffic violations and a possible case for the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), according to a statement by the Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF)

The RBPF said in a statement that the operation, dubbed Road Safety and Crime Prevention and Detection Operation, was conducted on Saturday from 10pm to 12:30am.

As many as 12 roadblocks were set up throughout the Sultanate, with seven in Brunei-Muara district, two in Belait district, two in Tutong district and one in Temburong district.

The roadblocks in Brunei-Muara district were set up in Lambak Link, Jalan Subok, Jalan Jerudong, Jalan Lumapas, Jalan Limau Manis, Pekan Muara and Jalan Sg Akar.

The roadblocks in Tutong were set up at Km 28 and Jalan Lamunin, while the roadblocks in Belait were at Jalan Tengah and Jalan Maulana. The roadblock in Temburong was at Jalan Puni.

The RBPF statement said that in Brunei-Muara there were 21 compound cases, two summons, 18 police warnings and 15 vehicles were stopped and searched.

In Belait, the RBPF recorded 12 compound cases, a police warning was given out and five vehicles were stopped and searched.

The possible NCB case was recorded in Tutong district where six cars had cases compounded and a summons was issued.

Temburong district did not any offences recorded during the operation.

The RBPF said that the operation was led by the Acting Head of Operations and Enforcement ASP Mohd Fathdillah Hj Abd Hamid, and police personnel from all police stations in the four districts were deployed for the operation.
