THE Health Promotion Centre under the Ministry of Health (MoH) is conducting a survey on non-communicable diseases such as smoking until January 17 next year.

The Survey on Knowledge, Attitude and Practice of Non-Communicable Diseases among Bruneians is aimed to assess the effectiveness of tobacco control in the Sultanate, the Centre said in a press statement.

The survey, which began yesterday, is also aimed to assess the effectiveness of the ‘National Campaign Against Non-Communicable Diseases 2014’ towards promoting a healthy lifestyle in Brunei.

Throughout the survey, a team of research assistants and officers from the MoH will visit selected households in the four districts and hold interviews with the residents. The MoH representatives will display their identification passes and authorisation letters during each visits.

The interviews will be conducted after office hours, on weekends and during public holidays.

The survey will be conducted on households aged 15-years-old and above, the statement added.

The Ministry said it is seeking the cooperation from the selected households to ensure the success of the research.
