Attorney-general attends Dubai meet

THE attorney-general and public prosecutor is currently in Dubai, United Arab Emirates to attend the 19th International Association of Prosecutors Conference.

A press statement from the Attorney General’s Chambers (AGC) yesterday stated that Datin Seri Paduka Hjh Hayati Pehin Orang Kaya Shahbandar Dato Seri Paduka Hj Mohd Salleh led Brunei’s delegation to the conference.

Themed ‘Best Prosecution Practice: Learning From Each Other’, the conference aimed to promote good relations among prosecutors and prosecution agencies.

It also serves to facilitate the exchange and dissemination of information, expertise and experience while encouraging the use of information technology.

Among the topics to be discussed include ‘The Use of Technology in Prosecution Services’, ‘Achieving Excellence in Prosecution Service Delivery’, ‘Training, Development and Performance Appraisal of Public Prosecutors’.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, vice-president and prime minister of the UAE and ruler of Dubai, launched the three-day conference on Monday.

Attended by attorneys-general and prosecutors from 156 countries, the conference serves as a platform to further enhance friendly ties and cooperation among prosecutors, AGC added.

The AGC has sent representatives to the conference since it became a member of the International Association of Prosecutors in 2002.
