MORE than 1,700 job vacancies are up for grabs at the Energy Department of the Prime Minister’s Office’s (EDPMO) job fair for the oil and gas sector today.

With more than 100 companies participating, a wide range of job opportunities at all levels in the oil and gas sector are expected from today up until Sunday.

The job fair held at the BRIDEX Hall 1 and 2 will also be offering career guidance and CV writing as well as interview tips.

The Energy Industry Competency Framework (EICF) and Brunei Maritime Academy programmes will also be available.

The EICF is a collaboration between EDPMO, the Ministry of Education and the oil and gas industry with the aim of increasing job readiness and competencies among Bruneians in the energy industry - in line with one of the aspirations of Vision 2035 - to produce a well-educated and highly skilled workforce.

Last year, a total of 3,613 registered jobseekers had vied for around 1,000 job vacancies, while 4,228 jobseekers were registered to fill 1,130 job vacancies during the six-day Energy Week 2014 Career and Job Fair.

As there will also be walk-in interviews, jobseekers, fresh graduates, school leavers and anyone interested are advised to bring their CVs and to dress appropriately.

The job fair will be open from 10am to 6pm today, and 9am to 6pm from Thursday to Sunday, with the exception of Friday when it will be open from 9am to 11.30am and 2pm to 6pm.
