NATIONAL broadcaster Radio Televisyen Brunei (RTB) held a workshop in its Belait office yesterday for its production crew, to equip them with knowledge of advanced filming techniques to be incorporated in its documentary production.

RTB Assistant Training Officer Muhd Ali Shuif Hj Md Yusof said in an interview that the “Special Workshop for Documentary Production and Multiple Camera Production (MCP)” would enhance the participants’ ability in using multiple cameras, as opposed to the conventional single camera, in filming outdoor documentaries. The MCP technique is widely accepted to be more visually creative, resulting in more engaging and stimulating content, he explained.

“The workshop’s main objective is to expose participants to the idea of… creative and innovative studio recording that will allow them to contribute more relevant programming for RTB,” said Muhd Ali Shuif.

According to Muhd Ali Shuif, RTB’s current use of MCP production was typically in live production such as live band performances and stage acting and not for documentary filming. The idea was for this first-of-its kind workshop organised in country to lay the foundations for the use of advanced techniques in RTB documentary production.
