13 new ITQSHHB graduates feted

HIS Royal Highness Crown Prince Hj Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Deputy Sultan presented certificates to 13 graduates (nine males and four females) of Aliyah Qira’at diploma programme of the Institut Tahfiz Al-Quran Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah (ITQSHHB) yesterday.

The Deputy Sultan was accompanied by His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Malik .

The Haflut Takharruj, the second for ITQSHHB, aimed at commemorating the success of its graduates in memorising Al-Quran. The ceremony was held at the Main Hall, International Convention Centre (ICC).

The ‘Aliyah Qira’at’ diploma, which began in 2010, runs for six semesters (three years). It was introduced as an effort by the country to produce more individuals who can memorise the Quran and other specialties in related fields.

The Minister of Religious Affairs, Yang Berhormat Pengiran Dato Seri Setia Dr Hj Mohammad Pg Hj Abdul Rahman said apart from their studies on Malay Muslim Monarchy as well as Dirasah Islamiah (Islamic studies) such as Fiqh (Islamic jurisprudence), Arabic Language, English Language, the graduates had also undergone work placements.

Dr Hj Noralizam Hj Aliakhbar, a religious officer at the Seri Begawan Religious Teachings University College (KUPU SB) delivered a lecture that highlighted the benefits of memorising Al-Quran.

Nine of the graduates achieved excellent result (Mumtaz), three graduated with very good result (Jaid Jiddan) and one obtained good result (Jayyid).
