His Majesty to attend 18th Annual Leaders’ Consultation between Brunei and Malaysia

HIS Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah, the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, safely arrived in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, yesterday to attend the 18th Annual Leaders’ Consultation between Brunei Darussalam and Malaysia.

Defence Minister of Malaysia Dato’ Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein greeted His Majesty upon his arrival at the Subang Air Base last night, before the monarch consented to walk past a guard from the 6th Royal Ranger Regiment of the Malaysian Armed Forces.

Also present to greet His Majesty on arrival was High Commissioner of Malaysia to Brunei, Datuk Awang Sahak Awang Salleh, Second Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Pekerma Dewa Dato Seri Setia Lim Jock Seng and the High Commissioner of Brunei to Malaysia, Dato Paduka Hj Alaihuddin Pehin Orang Kaya Digadong Seri Lela Dato Seri Utama Hj Awang Mohd Taha.

His Majesty then boarded a motorcade to the Shangri-La Hotel where he is staying during the consultation, and was greeted by the hotel’s General Manager and Manager Manfred Webber and Allwyn Drego upon arrival.

Accompanying His Majesty to the meeting is the Second Minister of Finance at the Prime Minister’s Office, Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Laila Setia Dato Seri Setia Hj Abd Rahman Haji Ibrahim.

Before departing from Istana Nurul Iman for his flight to Kuala Lumpur, a Doa Selamat was read by the State Mufti Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia (Dr) Ustaz Hj Awang Abdul Aziz Juned.

Present at His Majesty the Sultan’s Flight Hangar to bid farewell were the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office His Royal Highness Prince Hj Al-Muhtadee Billah, His Royal Highness Prince Hj Sufri Bolkiah, His Royal Highness Prince Hj Jefri Bolkiah, His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Malik, His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Wakeel and Her Royal Highness Princess Ameerah Wardatul Bolkiah as well as other members of the Royal Family.

Also in attendance at the Sultan’s Flight Hangar were YAM Pengiran Cheterias, the Speaker of the Legislative Council, Cabinet Ministers, Members of the Privy Councils, Deputy Ministers, Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) and Commissioner of Police.

The Annual Leaders’ Consultation between Brunei and Malaysia has been conducted since 1997, and was held last year on December 8 in Brunei.
