Temburong villages briefed on disaster management, prevention

THE National Disaster Management Centre (NDMC) yesterday conducted a community-based disaster risk management programme for Temburong’s Mukim Bangar and Labu.

According to a press statement, the programme was aimed to provide basic knowledge on disaster management and prevention.

NDMC officers also visited houses of residents living in areas identified as high-risk for disasters.

During the event, officials briefed residents on some of the topics of their “Guide to Basic Emergency and Public Safety” book. Such topics were on flooding, high winds and fires.

A total of 120 villagers from the village and mukim were present, the statemend said.

Certificates of participation were handed out to the attendees, and a book published by the NDMC was distributed by Temburong District Officer Dato Paduka Hj Abdul Hamid Abdullah.

Present at the ceremony were the NDMC Director Col (Rtd) Pg Dato Paduka Hj Rosli Pg Hj Chuchu, Assistant District Officer Hj Ajmin Meludin, leaders and village heads.
