Dinner to fete UNISSA graduates

SIX top graduates from Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA) were honoured with medals during a graduation dinner yesterday, while 44 graduates received book prizes.
Rector of UNISSA Dr Hj Norarfan Hj Zainal, in his welcoming speech, reminded graduates to to not be complacent with the knowledge obtained for the development of the nation.
The ceremony also saw prizes presented to 19 participants who took part in the competition in conjunction with the fourth Hafl al-Takhrruj (convocation ceremony). The competition comprised jawi calligraphy, photography, video clips and essay writing.
The Minister of Education, Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia (Dr) Hj Awg Abu Bakar Hj Apong, presented the awards.
In an interview, the first prize winner of the essay competition from Seri Begawan Religious Teachers University College (KUPU SB), Ak Hj Md Firdaus Pg Hj Rusman, talked about his essay which was on how Al-Quran and As-Sunnah generates a visionary community. He said that Muslims in this country should strive for success based on their strong belief towards Allah SWT through the Quran and the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad (SAW).
