Probe into college site mishap

HIS Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam has consented to the establishment of a Board of Inquiry to investigate the accident involving nine foreign workers at the construction site for the planned Kuala Belait Science College in Mumong on Wednesday, October 22.

In a statement issued by the Ministry of Education, the Board of Inquiry will be chaired by Dato Paduka Hj Bahrin Abdullah, Deputy Minister of Finance.

Its members will comprise the permanent secretary of the Prime Minister’s Office; permanent secretary of the Ministry of Development; permanent secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs and representatives from the Authority for Building Control and Construction Industry (ABCi); Labour Department; Fire and Rescue Department; Ministry of Health’s Environmental Health Services Section; Attorney General’s Chambers (AGC); the Institution of Surveyors, Engineers and Architects (PUJA); Head of Health, Safety and Environment (HSE), Energy Department at the Prime Minister’s Office and Professor David Koh Soo Quee, Chair Professor of Occupational Health from UBD.
