His Majesty arrives in Jakarta

HIS Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam has arrived in Jakarta, Indonesia to attend the inauguration ceremony of the new Indonesian President Joko Widodo, which will be taking place today.

Upon arrival at the Halim Perdanakusuma International Airport, His Majesty was greeted by Director-general of staff management at the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Bagas Hapsoro, Indonesian Ambassador to Brunei Nurul Qomar, and other senior government officials of Indonesia.

Also present to greet His Majesty was Ambassador of Brunei to Indonesia Brigadier General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Hj Mahmud Hj Saidin.

The monarch then boarded a motorcade to Grand Hyatt Jakarta Hotel, where he was greeted by the hotel’s General Manager Peter Stettler.

His Majesty departed Brunei from his flight hangar in Rimba yesterday, and present to bid him farewell were His Royal Highness Prince Hj Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office, HRH Prince Mohamed Bolkiah, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, HRH Prince Hj Sufri Bolkiah; HRH Prince Hj Jefri Bolkiah; HRH Prince ‘Abdul Malik, as well as other royal family members.

Also present at the hangar were Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Cheterias, the speaker of the Legislative Council, cabinet ministers, members of the Privy Council and other senior officials.

Prior to the departure, a doa selamat was read by State Mufti Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia (Dr) Ustaz Hj Abdul Aziz Juned at Istana Nurul Iman.

Accompanying His Majesty to Jakarta were Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Laila Setia Dato Seri Setia Hj Abd Rahman Hj Ibrahim, Second Minister of Finance at the Prime Minister’s Office and Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Pekerma Dewa Dato Seri Setia Lim Jock Seng, Second Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

Joko Widodo will become the seventh president of Indonesia, following his win in the presidential elections in July.
