Youth Day Run on Nov 23

THE Youth and Sports Department is hoping to strengthen silaturrahim (ties) among youths across the country and also encourage them to lead a healthier lifestyle through the National Youth Day Run slated for November 23.
This was highlighted by the Head Officer of Youth and Sports Department, Mariam Ulat, during a press conference at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports.
The National Youth Day Run is open to locals and permanent residents as well as purple and green identity card holders. It will begin and end at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium.
The National Youth Day Run is divided into four categories: 1) a 10-kilometre run for men aged 40 years and below (born in 1974 onwards) (in all districts), 2) a 10-kilometre run for women aged 40 years and below (born in 1974 onwards) (in all districts), 3) a 3-kilometre run for people with special needs (only in Brunei Muara) and 4) a 4-kilometre run for fun run open category (in all districts).
The category for people with special needs is further divided into those with sight deficiencies; those bound to wheelchairs; males with hearing and intellectual disability; and females with hearing and intellectual disability.
Participants aged 17 years and below must obtained permission from their parents or guardians.
For Tutong residents, the run will kick off at Tutong Sports Complex. For Belait, Mumong Sports Complex and for Temburong district, at the Temburong Sports Complex.
Mariam said that those who are interested to participate can obtain and return their registration forms at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium, and the Youth and Sports Departments of Belait, Tutong and Temburong district.
Registration began yesterday until November 8. The fee is $20 per person. Those registering online can make their payments according to the registration hours.
Online registration can be done via the department’s website (www.belia-sukan.gov.bn). Registration is open during office hours 8.30am to 12pm and 1.30pm to 4pm.
The National Youth Day Run participants can collect their T-shirts, towel and numbered bibs (only for 10km participants) on November 19, 20 and 22 during the following hours: 9am to 12pm and 2.30pm to 4pm.
There would be cash prizes for the first 10 winners in the 10km category for male and female. The run will also award the top three winners of the special needs category.
