Birthday greetings for Her Majesty

WIVES of high ranking officials yesterday hosted a reception for Her Majesty Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hjh Saleha to celebrate her 68th birthday at Jerudong Park Polo Club’s Royal Berkshire Hall.

Spouses of ministers, deputy ministers, permanent secretaries, deputy permanent secretaries and other senior officials gathered to celebrate Her Majesty’s birthday, which fell on October 7.

Accompanying Her Majesty were HRH Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Anak Hjh Zariah, Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Bini Hjh Faizah, HRH Princess Hjh Rashidah Sa’adatul Bolkiah, Her Royal Highness Princess Hjh Majeedah Nuurul Bulqiah, Her Royal Highness Princess Hjh Masna and Her Royal Highness Princess Hjh Amal Umi Khalthum Al-Islam.

Prior to the celebration, Her Majesty was introduced to four new members of the Association of Wives of Cabinet Ministers, Deputy Ministers, Permanent Secretaries and Deputy Permanent Secretaries.

The ceremony also saw Her Majesty cutting the birthday cake as well as a pesambah (gift) presentation by Datin Hjh Jahrah on behalf of the members.

The royal guests and others were entertained to a number of songs performed by members of the organising committee.

In her speech, Datin Paduka Hjh Jahrah Hj Mohammad, chairperson of the celebration’s organising committee, prayed that Allah SWT would continue to bless Her Majesty with longevity, faith and taqwa (to obey the rules of Islam and be God fearing).

With this, Her Majesty would be a permaisuri (queen) who is pious, in a sakinah (a happy family that is tranquil or harmonious), full of mawaddah warrahmah (compassion), she added.

Datin Hjh Jahrah said to tighten the bond of friendship between the members, they have organised several activities throughout the year such as a knowledge convention on fardhu kifayah (religious responsibilities of the Muslim community) and a course on preparing jenazah (deceased) for burial.

She believed the strong cooperation between the members in their activities can be further improved in the future. The group also dona-ted to Tutong flood and landslide victims, the orphans fund in conjunction with Hari Raya Aidil Adha as well as made a donation to Pusat Bahagia.
