FOURTEEN personnel from the Marine Police departed for Singapore yesterday to improve their boarding skills during operations in a three-week course with the host country’s Police Coast Guard.

Led by Inspector Ismail Ibrahim, the contingent will learn detailed strategies in the “Boarding Officer Course”, including ascending and descending onto boats and ships, as well as how to approach ships when on duty.

The training will also include lessons on safety while operating over water and all relating laws and regulations.

The collaboration between Brunei and Singapore is the result of a bilateral meeting between the police forces of the two countries, according to a press statement from the Royal Brunei Police Force.

Assistant Commanding Officer of the Marine Police, DSP Pg Hj Abdul Salam Pg Hj Abdul Ghani was at the Brunei International Airport yesterday morning to see the team off.
