World Maritime Day is celebrated globally to focus attention on the importance of shipping safety, maritime security and the maritime environment.
The theme of this year’s World Maritime Day is “International Maritime Organisation (IMO) Conventions: Effective Implementation”.
It aims to highlight International Maritime Organisation’s treaty instruments which have not been enforced yet.
The chosen theme also seeks to highlight the significant benefits to member states should the instruments were ratified and implemented more effectively.
