HIS Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam arrived in New York yesterday to attend the 69th General Assembly of the United Nations.

Her Majesty Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha accompanied His Majesty, along with HRH Prince ‘Abdul Malik, HRH 'Abdul Wakeel, HRH Princess Hajah Rashidah Sa’a-datul Bolkiah, HRH Princess Hjh Muta-Wakkilah Hayatul Bolkiah, and HRH Princess Ameerah War-datul Bolkiah.

Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade II Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Pekerma Dewa Dato Seri Setia Lim Jock Seng and Permanent Representative of Brunei Darussalam to the United Nations, Dato Paduka Hj Abdul Ghafar Hj Ismail were present at the John F Kennedy International Airport to greet their Majesties. Their Majes-ties then proceeded to the New York Palace Hotel, where they will be residing during the duration of the General Assembly and were welcomed by the Hotel’s Manager David Chase upon arrival.

This year’s General Assembly is themed “Delivering on and Implementing a Transformative post-2015 Development Agenda”, and will mark Brunei’s 30th year as a member of the United Nations.

Also accompanying Their Majes-ties to the United States are Minister of Finance II at the Prime Minister’s Office, Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Laila Setia Dato Seri Setia Haji Abdul Rahman Haji Ibrahim.

The President of the 69th General Assembly of the UN is the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Uganda Sam Kutesa, who will be presiding over the General Debate in the General Assembly.
