BRUNEIAN qari Muhammad Ali emerged as champion in the Tilawah Category of the 15th International Tilawah Al-Quran held in Moscow, Russia from September 18 until 20.

Muhammad, 30, is a third year student at the Seri Begawan Religious Teachers University College. He has actively participated in a number of local and international Al-Quran reading competitions — the most recent one was in Jakarta, Indonesia where Muhammad placed third.

This is the second time the Sultanate has been invited to participate in the Tilawah Al-Quran in Moscow.

The Bruneian delegation is scheduled to arrive in Brunei in an afternoon flight on Monday, September 22.
