In the female category, first place went to the “Nur Nikmatul Hikmah” group with 93 per cent, while the second and third spots went to the “Khairul Ummi” group and the “Nuur Hidayah” group – both scored 90 per cent.

The participants were judged based on fluency, choice of song and vocal clarity.

Chief Judge Hj Rosli Hj Batang said that each groups showed their potential and gave good performances.

He also said that there were still room for improvement for the participants, particularly in the choice of songs and vocal clarity.

“Even though all the groups showed good spirit there were still some aspects that need to be improved, such as incorrect pronunciation.”

“To overcome this problem, participants are encouraged to take part in the classes and courses offered. This way pronunciation can be improved,” Hj Rosli said.

The competing groups were participants of the Tahsin Tilawatil Quran classes, an initiative of MinDef.
