THE Brunei Darussalam Scout Association (BDSA) celebrated the “Clean Up The World” Campaign simultaneously with millions of other residents of the world yesterday.

According to a statement by the BDSA, this year’s campaign was themed “Our Place, Our Planet, Our Responsibility”, which is organised by the United Nation Environment Programme and supported by the World Organisation of Scout Movement and other non-government organisations.

The BDSA held their campaign by cleaning the whole area around the Scout Complex, the BDSA Prayer Hall and the National Training and Activity Scout Centre, while also having a cleaning campaign themed drawing and colouring activity for the members of the Cub Scouts.

BDSA said that the programme was aimed at raising awareness and fostering understanding on the importance of knowledge in keeping the Earth clean to the current generation.

This is the fifth time that BDSA has joined in the international campaign with the first being held in 2010 at Serasa Beach, and the latest one last year at the Fourth National Jamboree Site at the government-owned land site in Beribi.

Guest of Honour for the campaign was the Vice President of BDSA Pg Abd Wahab Pg Hassan.

A total of 250 scout members from scout commissioners to cub scouts and air scouts were in attendance, working together to make the campaign a success.
