A SCHOLARSHIP recipient under the Ministry of Religious Affairs’ (MoRA) Islamic Studies Department (JPI) departed Brunei International Airport yesterday in pursuit of further studies in dental surgery.

Nineteen-year-old Nur Zawani Zafirah Abdul Aziz will be pursuing a bachelor’s degree in dental surgery at Alexandria University in Egypt.

The scholar was previously a science stream student at the Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Damit Girls Arabic School. She was also one of the recipients of MoRA’s special A-level scholarship scheme to the United Kingdom in the 2012/2013 session, and completed her A-level certificate at Gresham College.

Speaking to The Brunei Times, Nur Zawani said her course and study destination were her first choice, as she wanted to study a science-related field, while mastering Arabic at the same time.

“I feel really blessed, and _Alhamdulilah _to His Majesty the Sultan for giving me this chance to continue my studies, as dentistry is my passion.

“I feel really thankful to my parents and the Ministry of Religious Affairs for giving me this opportunity, and supporting me, as well,” she said.

The scholar further said that she plans to come back to Brunei and contribute to the dental sector, after completing her studies.

Among those present to bid her farewell at the airport were Acting Director of JPI, Ustazah Hjh Rusita Hj Yahya; Head of Scholarship Section at JPI Hajijah Hj Moktal; and other JPI officers.
