Acting Minister of Education Dato Seri Setia Hj Yusoff Hj Ismail launched a career guidebook for students yesterday in a ceremony at the National Indoor Stadium.

The book was launched at the same time as the career carnival expo.

Acting Head of Counselling and Career Division Ali Yusri Abd Ghafor in a speech said the book was designed to guide students into making wiser course choices.

It also contained recommendations for students to make the best out of educational institution’s website; university open days; education fairs; and accept various perspectives from parents, teachers and those who have excelled in a field.

After the launching, the acting minister distributed the books to secondary school principals and career guidance teachers to be used by teachers and students use at their respective schools.

Dato Hj Yusoff also took a tour of the booths at the expo.

In a brief interview with The Brunei Times, Dato Hj Yusoff said the expo was great for students to gain a first-hand exposure on the career opportunities available for them.

He said the expo offered these opportunities as both government and private agencies were involved, and the students can find out which paths suited their interest, personality, skills and academic achievements best.

Career and education briefings by the Ministry of Health, Youth Development Centre, Kemuda Institute and Micronet International College will be held today in the morning. Meanwhile, the afternoon session will feature briefings from Kolej Pengajian Siswazah Antarabangsa (IGS), Australia High Commission and Embassy of the United States of America.
