Full dress rehearsal at Taman SOAS
UNIFORMED personnel supported by non-government organisations and private sector groups braved the morning sun yesterday, perfecting their steps in anticipation of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam’s 68th birthday celebrations this Thursday.
As custom, the full dress rehearsal saw divisions of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces and the Royal Brunei Police Force leading the march at Taman Sultan Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien (SOAS) in the capital, simulating every move from His Majesty’s arrival to his departure as per event programme.
Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Hj Halbi Hj Md Yussof oversaw the rehearsal with Commander of the RBAF, Pehin Datu Pekerma Jaya Major General Dato Seri Pahlawan Mohd Tawih Abdullah and RBPF Police Commissioner Dato Seri Pahlawan Bahrin Mohd Noor also present.
The Ministry of Defence’s Directorate of Personnel, Colonel (L) Hj Aznan Hj Julaihi said the performers were “passionate and full of spirit” as he addressed them at the conclusion of the rehearsal, but noted that certain improvements could be made.
A final rehearsal will take place today. In addition to the celebration at Taman SOAS, His Majesty will consent to a meet and greet in all four districts over the next two weeks.
