BSP names staff on ill-fated flight

BRUNEI Shell Petroleum (BSP) has confirmed yesterday that one of its foreign staff based in Brunei was among the victims of the tragic MH17 flight.

Klaas Willem van Luik of the Netherlands, a Principal Explorationist at BSP since December of 2013, was travelling alone on a personal trip, according to Shell.

He had been with Shell since 1985 and is survived by Sarawakian wife.

Shell also confirmed that it had lost four employees altogether including Van Luik during the tragedy; two from Malaysia and one other from the Netherlands.

Tambi Jiee who was travelling with his wife and four children and Paul Rajasingam Sivagnanam who was travelling with his wife and son, were both from Malaysia. While from the Netherlands, Petra van Langeveld was traveling with her son.

“Shell is providing support to the families of our employees to help them through this time of grief.” The Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 was allegedly shot down in Ukraine on Thursday July 17th.
