Brunei to host Asia-Pacific defence chiefs conference
BRUNEI-MUARA
BRUNEI is slated to host the Asia-Pacific Chiefs of Defense Conference (CHOD) this year, bringing together top military officials with the aim of bolstering regional trust.
His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam yesterday announced, in his titah at the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) 53rd anniversary celebration, that the annual conference will be held in the Sultanate within the year. However, no further details have been made public.
The Defence Minister and Supreme Commander said organising the forum will serve as another step in the RBAF’s efforts towards building regional military cooperation.
Initiated in 1998, the CHOD has been conducted every year as a platform for nurturing trust among countries in the region and enhancing security ties through the exchange of opinions on regional security and bilateral dialogues. – Rabiatul Kamit
