New board members to address complaints

NEW members have been appointed for the Board of Visitors for Hospitals, which aims to address complaints more effectively.

Datin Paduka Dr Hjh Norlila Dato Paduka Hj Abdul Jalil, permanent secretary of health, said it was hoped that the public and patients’ complaints of services and hospital facilities would be addressed in a systematic way, and subsequently reduced through the board.

“The tasks and responsibilities of a board member include giving views on the quality of patients’ care and health which is associated with welfare, convenience and well-being during their stay in hospital.

“They are also recommended to provide new and developing recommendations so that services at the hospital would be more effective and successful,” she added during the appointment ceremony yesterday.

She said the board was set up to obtain input and feedback on the quality of patient care in all government hospitals, and to improve the quality and standard of services and care to the public.

Members are appointed for a two-year period, beginning from March 1, 2014 till February 29, 2016.

There will be nine members for Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha (RIPAS) Hospital, and seven for Suri Seri Begawan Hospital in Kuala Belait.

In addition, six members were appointed for Pengiran Muda Mahkota Pengiran Muda Hj Al-Muhtadee Billah Hospital in Tutong and four members for Pengiran Isteri Hajah Mariam in Temburong.
