THE world’s fastest sailing training ship (18.7 knots/hour), ‘Pallada’ is heading to Brunei on its 125th anniversary tour around the world, said a Ministry of Education press statement yesterday.

The Russian sailing ship, recognised as the fastest sailing ship in the world by the Guinness Book of World Records, is on its maiden voyage from Russia to Brunei.

The visit is collaboration between Ministry of Education, Ministry of Communications, Energy Department of the Prime Minister’s Office and Singapore’s maritime Academy.

The objective is to give opportunity for experiential learning to students of Brunei Maritime Academy (BMA) and to expose and raise public understanding on the opportunities in the shipping industry.

The vessel will be opened to the public on Tuesday, March 18 from 11am to 4.30pm. Shuttle buses will be provided from the Port Department’s parking lot to the Cruise Ship Centre, Muara Port.
