Follow teachings of Al-Quran, Prophet, youth told

THE Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Religious Affairs yesterday called on youths to follow the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and the teachings of the Al-Quran.

Dato Seri Setia Ustaz Hj Abd Aziz Orang Kaya Maharaja Lela Hj Yussof, urged 90 mosque youths who took part in a two-day ‘Ihya Maulidur Rasul 1435H’ programme in conjunction with the celebration of Prophet Muhammad’s birthday (PBUH) and the first school term holiday.

The programme was held at Masjid Rancangan Perumahan Negara Kampong Lambak Kanan, where the Permanent Secretary was guest of honour at the closing ceremony.

In his speech, Dato Hj Abd Aziz called on the youth to follow in Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) steps and emulate his traits and be steadfast in following the teachings of the Al-Quran and Sunnah.

He added that such programme will ensure youth to be able to make full use of the holidays fruitfully, rather than just loitering around and involved in social issues.

The programme, jointly organised by the Department of Mosque Affairs and Takmir (committee members) of Kg Lambak Kanan Mosque, started on Saturday, March 15 and concluded yesterday morning.

It is one of the initiatives by the department to instil confidence and deeper understanding in Islam amongst participants as well as to encourage youth to be more involved with religious activities at local mosques.

The youth programme is among the events scheduled to enliven the celebration of Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) birthday, as a commemoration and a symbol of love towards the prophet (PBUH) which has sacrificed a lot to spread Islam as the true religion from God, according to the organisers.

Among the activities involved were religious talks, workshop on religious poems declamation, Tadarus Al-Quran and Qiamulail (performing religious activities at night).

The closing ceremony yesterday started with the recital of Surah Al-Fatihah led by Head Imam of Kg Lambak Kanan Mosque, Imam Khairul Ariffin Hj Md Yussof.

This was followed by a welcoming remark by the event chairperson, Hj Jamil Hj Abd Ghani, Mosque Affairs Officer for Brunei-Muara.

The event concluded with a _Dikir Marhaban _by mosque youth from the Brunei-Muara group and certificate presentation to participants, followed by a Doa Selamat.

Also in attendance were director, officers and staffs of Mosque Affairs Department, MoRA as well as jemaah and residents of Kg Lambak Kanan.
