A MAN who pleaded not guilty to stealing five cars has been put on further remand pending a Magistrates’ Court trial in May.

The court document states that Hj Hamdillah Hj Othman, 30, is accused of stealing five cars in the Brunei-Muara District and one in the Kuala Belait District, all of which were allegedly committed in the last two weeks of November 2013.

The list of stolen vehicles include five Totyota Kijangs and a Toyota Fortuner.

Hj Hamdillah was released on a $5,000 court bail and two local sureties. However, he is unable to find a bailor to secure his release and has been remanded at Jerudong Prison continuously every two weeks. The trial is scheduled to commence on May 1 to 17.

Meanwhile, co-accused Mohammad Zamri Abd Samad, 24, has pleaded guilty to all counts of stealing cars. The defendant will be sentenced this afternoon (March 5) at the Magistrates’ Court.

Mohammad Zamri is facing up to three years and fine for each of the cars that he stole.
