40 Muslimah youths conclude two-day motivational camp
BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN
A TWO-day motivational camp for young Muslimahs (Muslim women) studying at local higher education institutions ended yesterday, following a closing ceremony that was held at the Kg Sungai Kebun Sports Complex.
A total of 40 Muslimahs took part in the motivational camp, which was organised by the Sisterhood group of Politeknik Brunei, in collaboration with the Brunei-Muara Youth and Sports Department.
Following the recital of the Surah Al-Fatihah by Qutbul Islam Haji Suhaimi, camp organiser Zafirah Haji Md Suffri delivered some remarks, acknowledging that this was the first time a motivational camp has been held for Muslimah youth.
“Apart from raising awareness about the beauty of Islam, and to foster cooperation and friendship among Muslimahs, we hope that the camp helped to provide a little insight to the youth about the important role of women in Islam,” Zafirah said.
The camp also aimed to help equip youth with leadership skills towards the realisation of the National Vision 2035, she said.
Zafirah also delivered a run-through of activities that the young Muslimahs participated in during the camp, which included motivational talks, workshops, sports, dramas and a treasure hunt.
Meanwhile, representative Khmaliah @ Ridhwanah Nurul Huda Hj Kifli (on behalf of her fellow participants) said that the young Muslimahs had learnt a lot from participating in the camp.
“During our time in the camp, we have gained some knowledge about the role that Muslimahs can play in the present era of globalisation, as well as how we can contribute as the Generasi Berwawasan (Visionary Generation), which is the theme of this year’s National Day celebration,” Khmaliah said.
A brief video presentation of the Muslimahs and their camp activities was then shown, before certificates of participation were handed out by the Acting Director of Youth and Sports, Haji Abdul Malik Hj Mohammad.
Also in attendance at the ceremony were Acting Director of Politeknik Brunei, Denis Ho Mun Tai; Acting Assistant Director of Politeknik Brunei, Alias Hj Abu Bakar; Erani Hj Ibrahim of Politenik Brunei Registration, and Youth and Sports department heads.
