Khatam Al-Quran closing ceremonies

THE Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS) held the closing ceremony for the Khatam Al-Quran at Jame’ Asr Mosque yesterday. A separate ceremony was held at the Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddien (SOAS) Mosque for female participants.

His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Malik was guest of honour at the ceremony for the male participants, which was held to mark the 30th National Day.

Her Royal Highness Princess Hjh Majeedah Nuurul Bulqiah was guest of honour at the ceremony for female participants.

The Khatam Al-Quran closing ceremony was a project organised by the Department of Youth and Sports, which aims to improve youth’s understanding of the importance of the Quran to guide them in daily life.

It also seeks to enhance and strengthen the mutual understanding and cooperation between agencies involved in youth development.

Nine hundred participants including people from various government agencies, youth associations, schools, former participants of the Program Khidmat Bakti Negara (PKBN) and volunteering organisation bodies were involved in the ceremonies.

Receiving HRH Prince ‘Abdul Malik was Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Pekerma Laila Diraja Dato Seri Setia Hj Hazair Hj Abdullah, Minister of Education Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerma Dato Seri Setia (Dr) Hj Awang Abu Bakar Hj Apong and Minister of Development Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Indera Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Hj Suyoi Hj Osman.

Princess Hjh Majeedah Nuurul Bulqiah was received by Deputy Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Datin Paduka Hjh Adina Othman as well as the wives of some of the ministers.

The Khatam Al-Quran event started with a mass recital of Al-Fatihah followed by the recitation of verses by the Khatam Al-Quran participants.
