THE Ninth Belia Cinta Tanah Air (Youth Love the Nation) Programme continued its second phase yesterday in Tutong District as a total of 30 youths from all four districts carried the national flag throughout the country.

Held in conjunction with the 30th National Day celebration, the parade started at the Tutong Sports Complex, after Tutong Assistant District Officer Hj Adnan Hj Adam handed over a flag to one of the participants from Tutong District.

The youth participants then left the Tutong Sport Complex and began to run while the national flag was being carried to seven designated places, with Sufri Bolkiah Secondary School being the first stop.

At each place, the youth hoisted the national flag and sang the national anthem.

Upon arriving at the last stop at Balai Raya Kampung Lubok Pulau, Hj Haizul Rizal Hj Yahya, special duties officer, then handed over the flag to a representative of the Youth Love the Nation Programme from Brunei-Muara District. The run continues in the Brunei-Muara District today.

The programme aims to provide an opportunity for the youth groups in the country to be involved in the flag hoisting ceremony, in addition to building teamwork among them. Through such events, they can enhance the spirit of unity among the youth and the community and strengthen the good values.
