MIPR staff pitch in to help flood victims

THE Ministry of Industry and Primary Resources (MIPR) and departments under it organised a three-day charity funfair which started last Friday and ended yesterday.

The funfair was held to raise funds for 65 MIPR employees that were affected by the floods in the Tutong district. Activities such as henna design services, car wash services, street futsal games and Zumba were also organised. Present as the guest of honour yesterday was the MIPR minister, Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Utama Dato Seri Setia Hj Yahya Begawan Mudim Dato Paduka Hj Bakar.

Meanwhile, a charity golf tournament, also organised by MIPR, took place on February 16 at the Royal Brunei Golf Course. Seventy players including previous employees of MIPR and employees from private sectors participated in the tournament.

Also present during the ceremony were the Permanent Secretary of MIPR, Hjh Normah Suria Hayati and the Deputy Permanent Secretary of MIPR Mohd Riza Dato Paduka Hj Yunos as well as directors, senior managers, officers and employees of MIPR and departments under it.

Out of the 65 victims, 40 were badly affected by the floods.
