Charity events a good enterprise for students
TUTONG
PARTICIPATING in charity sales are a good way for students to harness their entrepreneurship skills whilst also giving to a good cause, said Tutong assistant district officer Hj Adnan Hj Adam.
Attending to the the charity sales event at the Sufri Bolkiah Secondary School yesterday, Hj Adnan said, “Students who learn skills such as handicrafts and cooking can use this event to practise and showcase their talents.”
The Charity Sales Project with the slogan ‘Jami Prihatin’ (we are considerate) is an initiative implemented by Cluster Four (Social, Sports and Recreation Section) of Tutong District Secondary Schools.
Thirty booths were set up for the event with most featuring an assortment of products such as handicrafts as well as food and drinks.
The charity sales event, aside from being a focal point for the public to channel their donations to those that were affected by the floods, was also aimed at teaching the students how to run a small business.
The assistant district officer yesterday reminded the vendors, who were mostly students, to pay particular attention to their mannerism during sales and the cleanliness of their food products.
