Operations F branch marches to victory

THE Fire and Rescue Department has reintroduced its marching competition, with the contest expected to be held every two years, the commandant of Lambak Kanan Fire and rescue Training Centre said.
Abd Sufriyan Hj Abd Hamid said the competition served as an added value for personnel to test their capabilities and efficiency in marching.
“This is the first time we held the contest since it stopped, InsyaAllah it will be held once every two year as part of a project by Fire and Rescue Department through the training centre,” the commandant said in an interview on the sidelines of the marching competition yesterday.
However, no details were given on when was the last time the competition was held before it stopped, and the reason for the hiatus.
The competition aimed to foster the spirit of cooperation, competitiveness, discipline and leadership qualities among the participants.
The commandant further said discipline is reflected in the quality of teamwork and leadership skills shown by the marching instructors in providing the right direction to their subordinates.
“InsyaAllah, through such competition, the Fire and Rescue Training Centre will be able to measure the extent of the participating members’s abilities in marching,” said Abd Surfiyan.
The final of the marching competition yesterday saw the participation of the department’s five branches, including Operations Branch C, Operations Branch E, Operations Branch F, Operations Branch G and Operations Women Unit.
Operations Branch F emerged as the champion, followed by the Women Operation Unit and Operations Branch C.
The participants were judged on their movements and uniformity in terms of attire among members of each team.
Director of Fire and Rescue Yahya Hj Abd Rahman presented prizes to the winners of the competition.
