Call for Filipino community to attend Syariah law briefing

THE Filipino community has been encouraged to attend a briefing on the soon-to-be-enforced Syariah Penal Code Order 2013 at the end of this month.

The briefing will take place at the chancery of the Philippines Embassy on February 27 at 1.30pm, according to a press statement.

The embassy’s services will be closed after 12pm to give way for the briefing and will resume as normal the next day, February 28.

The first phase of Syariah Penal Code is expected to be enforced in April following His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam’s announcement.

The Philippines embassy in Brunei is organising the briefing, in cooperation with the Prime Minister’s Office to promote understanding and awareness of the new Code among members of the Filipino community.
