390 jobs on offer in Tutong
ABOUT 390 job opportunities are being offered at the first Brunei Mini Job Fair in Tutong.
Head of Local Employment and Workforce Development Agency (APTK) Hj Afero Eswandy Hj Mohamad hoped Bruneians will occupy all the positions — there are 753 APTK-registered jobseekers from the district.
He said the agency will be working with grassroots leaders to arrange the mini job fairs as part of its new approach in promoting job vacancies.
Tutong District Officer Wardi Hj Mohd Ali, who launched the mini job fair, said there was a total of 5,290 jobseekers registered with the agency as of December 2013.
“Also as much as 80 per cent of those looking for employment in the (Tutong) district are holders of O level qualifications and below,” Wardi said.
Brunei-Muara district topped the list with 3,519 applicants (66.52 per cent), Tutong with 753 (14.23 per cent), Belait with 314 (5.94 per cent) and Temburong with 314 (5.94 per cent).
The 14 companies participating in the job fair were mostly based in the district.
