BRUNEI Darussalam will be participating in the second annual World Hijab Day (WHD) today during the Cintai Rasul Carnival at the Indoor Stadium Berakas.

The event will start at 10am at the Brunei Youth Council (MBB) booth. During the event, the public will be briefed on what World Hijab Day is and why it was established.

Mia Suria of Mia Mia Style Studio has been appointed the Ambassador of the World Hijab Day in Brunei.

Mia Mia Style Studio is both a boutique and style studio that provides Muslimahs with fashionable hijabs and clothing.

A hijab styling session will also be given by Mia herself during the event.

An international talent will also be attending the event to showcase her inspiring portraiture series called “The Beauty of Islam”.

The WHD campaign was founded by Nazma Khan to foster religious tolerance and understanding by inviting women (those who do not practise the hijab and non-Muslims) to experience wearing the hijab for one day.

The slogan for this year’s WHD is “Better Awareness. Greater Understanding. Peaceful World”.

Carol Lee, Asia’s first Miss Universe winner is a supporter of the WHD. In an interview by the WHD committee, Carol stated that women who wear the hijab should not be discriminated and be respected instead.

A total number of 116 countries, such as England, Japan, the United States, Italy, and Singapore are also participating in the World Hijab Day.
